Who I am as an Artist

Why an Art Blog?

After graduating with my Masters in Fine Arts, I was not really sure where I belonged or what I wanted to do anymore.

I knew I wanted to teach art, but even with being a student teacher, I still did not have enough "experience".

The two months before graduation is when the pandemic started and by the time I had graduated, they were desperate for more teachers. Anyone who was older decided not to come back the following year for fear of catching covid. Even with the amount of teachers that were needed, they still wanted five to ten years, or more, of experience.

I was at a dead end job, hating myself and my life. I started painting coasters and creating small pieces to keep my art alive. I was about to give up and just stay where I was and do a couple crafts shows a year to make sure I kept up with art.

At one of my tattoo appointments I was complaining to my artist about not being good enough at art to ever find an art job and feeling like I would never be able to do what I wanted.

Right then, he told me to become his apprentice and to tattoo for a living. I thought he was joking and thought nothing of it for the next few months until my next appointment. Again he brought up me tattooing, saying my personality alone will have clients wanting to stay with me. So I decided to give it a shot. Quitting my full time job and pursuing my career and I have not looked back since.

But why a blog about art you ask? Because everyone needs a place to express themselves and to be able to show their accomplishments, to write their own words and to do their own thing. This blog is for me to show myself how I am as an artist. What quotes inspire my everyday and what pieces I love to create the most.
